About Us

Our Story

Padilla Produce Inc. is a proudly family-owned and operated farm market business established in 1997. With deep roots in agriculture, we specialize in the wholesale distribution of fresh, high-quality produce, including watermelons, cantaloupe, peppers, onions, and alfalfa.

Our story begins with Felipe Padilla, a visionary whose farming journey started in the rural fields of Mexico. In the 1970s, Felipe immigrated to the United States and began working as a field laborer in Crowley County, Colorado. It was there that a local farmer saw Felipe’s potential and helped him navigate the systemic barriers he faced as a newcomer. With that mentorship and a relentless work ethic, Felipe was able to establish his own farm—laying the foundation for what would become Padilla Produce Inc.

Since our founding, we have remained deeply committed to food equity, striving to provide affordable, nutritious produce to communities of all income levels. This commitment remains central to our operations today.

In December 2020, Felipe passed away from complications due to COVID-19. His loss was deeply felt, but his legacy lives on. Today, his wife and their three children continue to own and lead the company with the same passion, resilience, and dedication to innovation and sustainability in agriculture.

Over the years, we’ve developed a strong reputation for excellence in cultivating watermelons, cantaloupe, and peppers. Our partnerships since 2000 with brokers have enabled us to distribute watermelon annually to markets across state lines. Additionally, we proudly work with small-scale vendors throughout New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, and Denver to serve both low-income, low-access (LILA) communities and broader regional markets.

At Padilla Produce Inc., we believe farming is more than just growing food—it's about nourishing communities, preserving family values, and building a sustainable future through agriculture.
